Our History

2022

After receiving an education grant from the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust, the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra partners with the City of Vancouver Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department to co-host a free community arts and music festival in Esther Short Park.

 

August 4-6, 2023

The inaugural festival comes to Esther Short Park, inviting community members to experience three days of free music, art, dance, food and fun in Vancouver. Washington State Poet Laureate Arianne True opens the festival with a spoken word performance. Main stage artists are string trio Time for Three, violinist Anne Akiko Meyers, and pianist Orli Shaham, with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra USA under the batons of maestros Salvador Brotons and Gerard Schwarz.

August 2-4, 2024

The festival returns for an exciting second year with main stage performances by cellist Zuill Bailey and pianist Olga Kern, with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra USA under the batons of maestros Salvador Brotons and Gerard Schwarz. Over 40 local music and dance acts thrill audiences from two community stages. Over 100 artists participate as vendors, exhibitors and demonstrators.

May 23, 2025

The Vancouver Arts & Music Festival receives the Spotlight Award for Best Special Event from the Washington Recreation and Parks Association, recognizing the festival’s outstanding contributions to arts access, community building and economic impact.

July 16, 2025

The Clark County Council proclaims July 31-Aug. 3, 2025 as Vancouver USA Arts & Music Festival Week, celebrating the festival’s positive community impact.

July 31 - August 3, 2025

In its third year, the festival returns for four days, featuring over 40 local music and dance acts and over 100 artists serving as vendors, exhibitors and demonstrators. The Thursday main stage performances feature Pamyua and Tito Puente Jr. presented in collaboration with Clark College Foundation. On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra will take the main stage alongside violin virtuosi Mark and Maggie O’Connor, soprano sensation Renée Fleming, and world-renowned guitarist Sharon Isbin under the batons of maestros Salvador Brotons and Gerard Schwarz.
